RE: Freightliner XC Tach problem

Freightliner had a problem with instrument clusters back in the 90's. Check with them and see if what your experiencing is one of the problems with the cluster. The freightliner we have a work it was the speedometer.

RE: Prodigy

First, adjust the trailer brakes. Then check all electrical connections, especially at the pigtail. If all is OK, check the magnets on the brakes. You should be able to lockup the brakes using the manual lever on the Prodigy if everything else is up to snuff.

RE: PDF brochure 2004 Surveyor?

My '05 SV255RS has "screwed and glued" cabinets in it. As far as for the "studs", I took the factory tour in Elkhart IN. and saw the Surveyors being built. The "studs" were located at all door and window openings and just a couple of strategically located cross members. My guess is if you are installing a compartment door, there will not be any "studs" to attach the door to, unless the door is installed under a window and is the same width.

RE: 30 pound propane bottles

No. They do not make remote read gauges for cylinders. The flame king mentioned above is a glorified pressure gauge, and will fluctuate with the temperature of the propane in the cylinder. Granted it will show you that you are about to run out, if your watching it closely.

RE: LPG gauge?

If the inside remote shows full but the gauge face does not, check for a broken ground wire for the sender. If the gauge face shows full, try running a magnet around the gauge face and see if the needle inside will move or wiggle. If it will not, replace the gauge face.

RE: Prodigy

If your getting power from the TV harness brake light wire to the Prodigy, then the problem has to be in the controller itself. It is not seeing the brake light signal to wake up the unit.

RE: Moving the fresh water storage tank?

My fresh water tank in under the trailer between the axles. It (the tank) is the same shape and size of the gray and black tanks. They are held in place by angle iron fastened to the I-beam frame rails. So if you have a deep enough frame rail you could install a tank like that under the trailer.

RE: Propane problem

Excess flow activated on the cylinder when you opened it. Close it and open it slowly.

RE: Forest River SV-255RS

My 255RS has had zero leaks. The only major problem we have had with our 255RS is the slide actuator broke while on vacation. I easily fixed it on the road, but other than that, no other problems or leaks.

RE: Bootable backup drive?

I have a Maxtor OneTouch external drive that has a CD disk that will boot the computer from the saved image on the external drive. You do a complete back-up of the system onto the external, then if your hard drive cashes you insert the CD, reboot the computer, and it will look for the image on the external drive and boot from that. Then it will let you restore the hard drive image if the drive is good.

RE: LP HIGH PRESSURE AND LOW PRESSURE

Question: If the appliance can be run off one lb bottle. And if it has a high pressure regulator. Then, can the appliance be run off the RV mounted tank if the take off hose is installed ahead of the RV's regulator? Yes.

RE: Question for Dodge owners with the 545RFE tranny...

I believe there is a flash update for the computer that is suppose to correct this complaint. On the Dodge Forums they discuss this same complaint and have reported that a flash of the PCM corrected the issue. I have had no issues of the TC staying locked up and lugging the engine, but found it annoying having the trans shifting from 4th to 3rd and back to 4th constantly while climbing a hill. I do not have a trans oil gauge so I don't know just how hot the trans is getting, but I figure if the computer lets it happen it must not be bad for it.

RE: stubborn propane tanks

Close service valve on the tank and then open it real slow. Excess Flow closed when you open the full tank.

RE: No Cruis Control with lights on?

If your bright light switch (Flash to Pass) is on the turn signal lever like most others now days are, along with the cruise control, chances are you have a broken wire in the turn signal stem assembly. Replacing the stem would cure the problem.

RE: stupid question #101

Can not do. Gas fitting on trailer is low pressure, and your Coleman stove is high pressure.

RE: Atwood water heater re-igniter

I have one on my water heater and it works great. Also, saves having to find a match to lite it, just flip the switch (powered by a 9 volt battery) and turn the gas control to pilot and PUFF, the pilots' lit. I have used it 3 years now and have had only a few times the pilot failed to re-lite after it had been blown out.

RE: Anyone try this with their dual cam sway?

I use my friction sway with my DC in high cross winds conditions. I find it provides better stability in these conditions. I have use it with the DC even in calm conditions and have found no adverse effects. So, try it, you may like it or not, you decide. It will not hurt the way DC works, because the DC is still going to try to straighten the trailer up with the TV.

RE: Weber Baby Q and 20# Propane Tanks

The only draw back with those hoses is that if you open the service valve on the cylinder too fast, the excess flow thinks there is a leak and shuts off the flow of gas to the grill. Most people get in to much of a hurry and try to lite the grill after opening the valve and the grill will not lite due to the excess flow is in lockout. I tell my customers to make sure the grills valves are in the off position, turn the cylinder valve on, and walk away for 5 to 10 minutes. Let the gas system equalize to make sure the excess flow is opened to allow full flow of gas to the grill. But other than that they (the hoses) work fine, at least mine does. Dave
